Dr Frances Lui is a consultant anaesthetist and the team head of the division of Obstetric Anaesthesia at the Department of Anaesthesiology, Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong. She leads obstetric analgesia and anaesthesia services at QMH, collaborates multidisciplinary care for high risk pregnancies, conduct research, supervises training and quality assurance programs for pregnant women, and is a member of the Baby-friendly-hospital initiative steering committee. She is a reviewer of peer reviewed journals and an examiner of the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists. She had been invited to give lectures and workshops extensively in Hong Kong and internationally.
Cesarean section is a widely performed operation with a spectrum of urgency, obstetric indications, maternal co-morbidities, performed under either regional or general anaesthesia. In this talk, fundamentals of anaesthesia care to cesarean section will be revisited, with a global perspective and reference to latest evidence.
