Welcome Message

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

A warm welcome back to our Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Anaesthesiology 2022, jointly organized by the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists and the Society of Anaesthetists of Hong Kong. We are hybrid again after the success of our 2021 symposium, with setup at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and serving webcasts.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Exploring the Unknown”. In contrary to what I believe previously as a trainee anaesthesiologist that the anaesthesiology discipline, alike many other specialties, is an art of apprenticeship, we are immersed in an era of evidence-based medicine and big data. To be a real expert in my own words, it requires the mastery of traditional wisdom, the habit of practicing best-available critically-appraised evidence and the courage of diving into the unknown. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Exploring the Unknown”. The Organizing Committee has put together an ASM program and various workshops to keep up with the latest trends. Apart from the popular Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) and crisis workshop, we are delighted to organize the first wellbeing workshop as well as a sharing session with the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCOA).

All of us have been through a COVID-19 period like no others. We admire and appreciate your tenacity to pursue new knowledge and refine clinical practice that will ultimately benefit our patients. Join me on 19 – 20 November and take advantage of this thoughtful educational and scientific meeting.
