Ravi Gill anaesthetizes adults and children undergoing cardiac surgery and covers the Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in Southampton. He has published major randomized clinical trials with an interest in blood conservation, cell salvage and pharmaceutical therapies aimed at appropriate transfusion in the cardiac surgical population.

He has been involved in a number of committees promoting the appropriate use of allogeneic blood and presently the Honorary Treasurer of the Association Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland.
